Why This Student Jailed For 15 Months Will Restore Your Faith In Law

A British student is imprisoned for a period of 15 months because she changed medical records and lied that her ex-boyfriend not only raped but also strangulated her.
We are talking about Natasha Uttamsingh who warned Aakash Andrews of destroying his life. She told cops that the man thrashed her “to the point of unconsciousness” subsequent to breaking up with her. As an outcome, he had been compelled to leave the flat where Natasha used to live with Uttamsingh. Not only this, he was also taken into custody.
22-yr single mother made extraordinary efforts for proving her allegations true and for this, she even changed the medical report as well as forged phone call records. Besides, Natasha altered her phone contact so as to make it look like she got 25 calls from Andrews.

However, Uttamsingh’s story unfolded when cops found a text on Natasha’s mobile that she sent using Aakash’s phone to herself, stating that she was raped by him. However, when more investigation was done over this, it was found that the message was sent at a time when the man didn’t have the mobile.
As stated by Prosecutor Tony Prosser, “When he suggested finishing it she told him she was pregnant.”
“He said he wanted to go away for a few days. She stood in front of him and said she would report him for domestic assault if he were to try to leave her.”
Michael Hillman, defence advocate, said that his client was suffering from a personality disorder so a conviction might obstruct the prospects of her being a midwife. In his words, “She maintains that she was the victim of abuse but she has to acknowledge that as a result of her own conduct one will never know whether that was indeed a true complaint given the lies and the very significant lies that followed that allegation.”
Uttamsingh has been sentenced a 15-month imprisonment by Christopher Critchlow, the judge.
This is what the judge stated in the court, “You have tried to influence a court by dishonestly altering medical records and tried to bring problems into Aakash Andrews’ life and you have succeeded in doing that.”
